How to spot a real replica championship belt (4 checks)

1. Plate relief
Hold the belt at a shallow angle to a light. A die-struck plate has physical depth — the raised areas cast a real shadow into the recessed ones. A printed or vinyl-faced plate is flat under a layer of lacquer, and at an angle it reads as a sticker, because functionally it is one.
2. The leather
Full-grain hide creases and keeps its colour. Bonded or split leather — ground-up scrap bound with adhesive — creases white, then cracks along the fold within a couple of years. Bend a corner gently. If the crease goes pale, it is not full-grain.
3. Snap spacing
Display-grade adult belts use a consistent adjustable snap layout designed around a 30–46in waist. Knock-offs place snaps by eye, so spacing wanders and the belt hangs crooked when fastened.
4. Weight
A full-size replica is heavy — the plates are metal. If a belt feels light in the box, the plates are resin or plated plastic, whatever the listing claimed.
What build quality does not tell you
